What is School / Educational Psychology?
School / Educational Psychology is a specialty of Psychology which studies, assess, treats, and prevents several difficulties and disorders that the students may present in regard to their learning and education.
The field of educational psychology involves the study of memory, conceptual processes, and individual differences in conceptualizing new strategies for learning processes. It involves not just the learning process of early childhood and adolescence but includes the social, emotional, and cognitive processes that are involved in learning throughout the entire lifespan.
Educational Psychology concerned primarily with understanding the processes of teaching and learning that take place within formal environments and developing ways of improving those methods. It covers important topics like learning theories; teaching methods; motivation; cognitive, emotional, and moral development; and parent-child relationships etc.

Psychological and psychoeducational assessment
Psychological and psychoeducational assessment: major areas of child development are assessed. These include among others: social and emotional development, approaches to learning, communication & language development, intelligence and cognition.
The process of assessment may include one or more of the following methods / tests:
α.WISC – III (a psychometric tool measuring intellectual and cognitive abilities)
β. ATHENA Test (for psychoeducation skills)
c. RAVENS Test (measuring intelligence using non-verbal procedures)
d. ACHENBACH (behavior and emotional assessment – measures adaptive and maladaptive behavior)

Counseling sessions and specially designed interventions are administered when students are diagnosed with a specific disorder or when this is considered to be beneficial for enhancing student’s learning potential.
Sessions might administered for the student, the parents or the whole family and may include other important adults (a teacher, a carer etc)
